Well, what do you do with the camera?
It is always useful to start with the goal ... such as:
I have an object against the light, how can I adjust the exposure?
or
I want a large depth of field, how to set the aperture?

sorta "difficult to answer the question, if we do not know what you are.

You can do an Internet search of a manual or call the Nikon.

You see what a camera with a 35mm base, is not it? Only ISO (100, to use the photos larger), shutter speed and aperture. You will need a good light meter.

You can try your local photo shop, they would be able to give you a simple lesson, because it is probably his film in development.
